Sentiment and Sins
Lauren Kim
I beg for repentance as pangs of longing and guilt maul you
Seeking asylum in the distant comfort of fading love shall enthrall you
Wizened old wizards and their pensieves, swirling silver light
Swallow your conscious, your sins, lest they befall you
Limbs dangling precariously on an edge, blackhole of darkness beneath
Whispered secrets and traumas, hidden smirks as we appall you
Scarlet couches enveloping you, dingy fan in the corner
Giggles about past lovers chime like morning bells, innocent youth call you
Avenues of dancing trees, stretching their limbs wide for a long-lost embrace
Marching in time, left nor right, before the lurking shadows to stall you
Bursting oranges and scarlet slash across the dimming heavens, smoldering fires alight from within
Burning lips and traded glances, might he ever recall you?
Oh, the joys of a hardened heart. Shunned for all who gaze upon
Peer down from an haughty throne, reject all who dare befall you
Eyes narrowed upon the winding road before you
Step by step, dragging dusty feet about the ground, you keep going
