Ending

Corey Provencher

The ending of all stories are bittersweet,
a taste of burnt copper stains the tongue with the last words spoken.

The word goodbye is horrifying.
But all stories must come to an end.

Some are longer.
Some are shorter.
Some are happier.
Some are sorrowful.

But all stories, must come to an end.

It may not have been the glory imagined, or the triumph hoped for.
It may have been ecstasy,
it may have been pure bliss.
It could have been a tragedy, or a gauntlet of dread.

You may have ended the story.
I may have ended the story.

But even the most beautiful of stories, as hard it may be to see, must come to an
end.

The final words must be written.
Those may be goodbye.
Those may be I’m sorry.
Those may be I love you.

But all stories, must come to an end

But this, does not have to be the end.

So keep writing.
Keep talking.
Keep going.
You must.
Because one day, your story will come to an end.
That day though, is not today.

This is isn’t your post script, and there are so many pages left to fill.

The period at the end of the sentence hasn’t been placed yet, and it most certainly
won’t be any time soon
